The Daredevil comic books have always held high regard among the Marvel fans and the Netflix series depicting Matthew Murdock’s story didn’t disappoint either. Daredevil came out a while ago and to this day, it remains one of the best superhero series to be ever made. All thanks to near-perfect storylines the writers came up with every scene, giving the fans uncanny details about different characters quite subtly.
Every character in the Netflix Original is addictive and very well detailed. While the fans hate the antagonists, there are some who they cannot help but root for.
10 Like: Foggy Nelson
The only character besides Ben Ulrich who doesn’t have a deeply embedded darkness inside him is Matt’s best friend Foggy Nelson. He is someone who’ll place his life at the hands of law because he trusts that no one is bigger than the law itself. Even though Wilson Fisk was threatening to take away everything he held dear, Foggy was prepared to wait for his moment to pounce on him, rather than go by Matt’s way. He is everything good with the world.
9 Can’t Stand: James Wesley
Wilson Fisk’s right-hand man, James Wesley is everything one wants in a rule-following soldier. He does what needs to be done and even though his line of work is quite tricky, he doesn’t ask any unnecessary questions. He knows Fisk as well as any other human being in the world and he could give his life for the crime lord. But from Matthew Murdock’s point of view, he is everything that is wrong with New York. He blackmails and kills innocent people just to give his employer what he wants.
8 Like: Frank Castle
The Punisher aka Frank Castle was the biggest winner from Daredevil’s second season. He became one of the most popular characters on Netflix.
So much so that they decided to make a series out of it. Frank is someone who has suffered from an immense loss; one from which he can never recover, even if he wants to. He is doing what he feels right, with vengeance and justice on top of his list. Obviously, being an ex-Marine helps with what he does.
7 Can’t Stand: Elektra
Elektra Natchios is strong, capable of doing things on her own, and the only woman for whom Matthew would happily give his life for. When she first came into Murdock’s life, she tried to bring out the devil in him but she failed. Because she tried to do that; tried to make Matthew turn into some kind of monster, the fans started hating her. Elektra, of course, plays a huge role in The Defenders arc as well.
6 Like: Karen Page
The ever so persistent investigator/reporter, Karen Page is a very complex character. She has done some very bad things which she isn’t proud of but at least she is trying to forget all of that, instead of falling into some deep dark circle of depression.
She learnt her skills in journalism from one Ben Ulrich and there’s no one who can stand between her and the truth. Karen only wants to do good, always.
5 Can’t Stand: Vanessa
The only woman who makes The Kingpin vulnerable, Vanessa is someone who surprises a lot of fans in the series. She seems a decent girl, with an eye for art but as the series progresses, the fans learn that there is some kind of darkness inside of her.
Deep down, she knows Wilson is simply destroying New York City with his demonic nature but still, she stays with him. She is, sometimes, unbearable.
4 Like: Matthew Murdock
He is one of the most liked superheroes in the Marvel Comics and one of the biggest reasons for that is his never say die attitude. He never gives in and can take a hell of a beating, just like his old man Battling Jack Murdock. Matthew is a lawyer by day and a vigilante by night, and throughout the series, he faces the struggle of navigating through his two lives. Without Foggy and Karen looking out for him, Matthew might have done something he wouldn’t have been proud of.
3 Can’t Stand: Benjamin Poindexter
FBI Agent Ben Poindexter is a psychopath who needs a tight set of rules to never show the world who he truly is. But when Wilson Fisk puts an eye on his talents, The Kingpin does what he usually does; manipulates him into becoming The Bullseye.
Ben is not a man of honour. All he needs is a place where he belongs and a task which he must accomplish. He is a soldier who can do anything and one of Daredevil’s biggest foes.
2 Like: Ben Ulrich
Ben Ulrich is not a superhero but what he does makes him more than one. He is a family man who takes his work too seriously at times. He wants the truth and he’ll settle for no less than the truth because that’s what he does for a living. He’ll continue to probe the right people who do not want to be disturbed, even though it puts his life in considerable danger. Ben is a man of honour, principles, and conviction.
1 Can’t Stand: Wilson Fisk
Wilson Fisk is one of the best (if not the best) villains in Marvel Comics history and the series does justice to this fact, especially in the third season, where he looked almost unbeatable with his tricks. The Kingpin owned New York with his money and Daredevil almost lost himself in order to bring him down. Wilson is, mentally, one of the strongest people one can come across and he is smart as hell. Add the two of them, and there’s a criminal who can do anything.
